We've changed our outlook

The Covid-19 pandemic has turned the world upside down. Online shopping via Amazon and so on have changed the way we shop, the way we spend our leisure and working time, possibly for ever. Some jobs won't be viable and lots of people will be looking for something new.  Whatever you do, you need a job that's enjoyable, lucrative and has career prospects.

From what we've seen demand for the service we provide has increased faster than we expected,  and we need to rethink how we meet our customer's needs,  through greater resilience, flexibility yet still retain the high quality and consistency of the service we provide.

During the pandemic we have made significant changes to how we will deliver our service so we can try to meet changes in our customers' needs and the ever increasing demand.

We also have some exciting opportunities with existing customers and other revenue streams which are growing and currently under exploited.

Flat Pack Amigos are now looking to expand the business via developing a franchise network.

Phase 1 of the process (to complement our existing network) is to recruit 12 regional franchisees, who if suitable may progress to being master franchisees (think regional manager). So we are not just looking for good hard working assemblers,  we're looking for something more.

You'll need to be an ambitious self starter, with a 'can do' attitude and a willingness to follow tried and tested working practices which deliver a high quality service...... and if that's not all, be capable of running your own business.

For your first 1-2 years you'll concentrate on running your own franchise building flat pack furniture, and being the best assembler you can be, and we'll help you as much as we can on that successful journey.

Phase 2 is when we'll appointment the master franchisees to develop other franchisees within their region.

We won't run before we can walk and so expect to recruit our first 1-3 franchisees during 2021/2022, so we can give them enough attention and help to ensure they are successful. This will also help us refine our franchisee system. These first franchisees will have more beneficial terms as a result.

  • We have a series of ways of working to prevent you making silly mistakes and techqniues to work quickly without cutting corners (you'll be like Mr Miyagi in the Karate Kid).

  • we'll provide opportunities for growth that going it alone won't.

Why we think our support is worth it:

Assembling flat pack furniture is relatively easy, straightforward and enjoyable for someone with the right skills, personality, ability and mindset. Often it's not like working at all. However, like most industries there are many pitfalls and unexpected things a novice will face which are expensive and could destroy your confidence. Therefore ruining a potentially lucrative and enjoyable career before it has started.

For example:

  • Taking on a job that is too big or complex without realizing it. Having a great induction, training and support can ensure you never face these costly events.
  • Simply putting a bed or wardrobe in the wrong place in a room could land you in court with costly ramifications. Missing or overlooking a seemingly inconsequential step could open you up for unlimited liability. Awareness of these issues is better raised via training, than via learning on the job. At the end of the day when you assemble furniture, your customers (and their dependents, children etc) are putting their safety in your hands. So this is not a job to be taken lightly.
  • Bad costumers are out there and they will take advantage of you (deliberately or without realising). These people are not necessarily bad people but they can ruin your revenue and turn a profitable business into a loss making one, and make you a busy fool. Our support and working practices will stop that happening to you, either by providing techniques to manage them properly or avoiding them altogether.

Fortunately, most customers are very nice people who will pay you promptly, provided you are polite, personable, do a good job and are rigorously professional in how and what you do. Not everyone will pay you straight away, and you need to be disciplined, polite and professional in the way you ensure you get paid on time for every job you do.

I can assure you, there are plenty of very good assemblers out there who are busy fools working 6-7 days a week earning £10k-£15k a year because they haven't positioned themselves properly and do not have the systems in place that we (and our franchisees) do. For these people their businesses are not only running their lives, they're wasting the money that they have earned.

As a sole assembler, following our systems you can earn £25k-£35k working 5 days a week, and have the opportunity to grow your business into something much much more.

However you must be realistic, you won't earn this sort of money in your first year, second year maybe, but in your third year provided you follow our system and work diligently, we think you will. Once you've done it and got there, you have a job and income for life that no one can take away from you. That is freedom, security and one of the most liberating things you can achieve. I know,  I've been doing it for 17 years.

How We Work

  1. Get a Quote
    • Use our online quote engine to get a quote for the furniture you want assembling.
  2. Book an Appointment
    • Use our online automated booking process, or.
    • We will then ask you to give us 3 dates when you want us to come.
    • We will confirm the appointment we can do within 1 hr (during normal opening hours).
  3. We do your Job
    • We will arrive within your appointment start time (1 hour window ie 2-3pm).
    • We will assemble your furniture.
  4. After the Job
    • Our Assembler will close the job down.
    • We send you payment details (*) and a link to close the job, provide feedback etc.
    • We send you a receipt and our guarantee.


Customer Satisfaction

We send our customer satisfaction survey to everyone who contacts us with an enquiry as part of our commitment to continual improvement (a requirement of BS 5750 / ISO 9000).

If you didn't use us we use the feedback given internally to understand our market, and where necessary modify our business model.
